New PayPal phishing scam

This is a pretty obvious and lame scam, but new, inexperienced and gullible people fall for almost every scam, no matter how blatant, so here we go:

All the usual tell-tale signs — bad grammar, punctuation and syntax, spoofed email address, NO “To:” address, emotional blackmail and insecure documents demanding that you log into your PayPal account.

It’s a S-C-A-M!

Yes, folks, it’s yet another PayPal phishing scam aimed at emptying your PayPal account if you’re dumb enough to open the attachment.

Beware of well-meaning, IGNORANT “Gurus”!

 

This isn’t a scam warning. It’s a “risky business” alert, triggered by a rash of new programs and online systems from well-intentioned Internet marketers who are simply “flying blind” — and look set to take a whole lot of equally-ignorant people over the cliff-edge with them.

Yep… it’s the old 2-tier affiliate programs that pay through PayPal “lemming run”. It’s back again, to wreak havoc on Internet marketers who don’t know about, or don’t remember, the previous massacres.

New PayPal phishing scam

Same-old same-old scam phishing for your PayPal account info, but with new graphics. As always, hover your mouse over the link to see the REAL destination URL. (Hard to believe that people don’t even do this most basic level of checking before clicking and losing their money.)

PayPal account verification scam

This is a variation of the usual PayPal account phishing scam. A couple of glaring spelling errors helps, along with the fact that there’s NO email address for the recipient in the headers.

PayPal $6 scam

This chain letter scam has been around for a while now. One of the distinguishing features is the claim that it’s somehow endorsed by Oprah Winfrey, or was featured on the Oprah show.

Yeah, right… to denounce it as a scam!

Here’s a recent (2010) copy of the usual PayPal $6 email sent to prospective suckers (and, further down the page, transcripts from a successful court case by the FTC for an identical scam that should make alarming reading for anyone kidding themselves that this scam is legal and ethical, etc):
